Sayo blinked at first, before he quickly realised what Naruto's doing when they started to move. Run, rather. After his initial confusion, he quickly runs along with Naruto. Surprising (or not?), he can seem to keep up with him.
The hallway almost seem never ending. Sayo looks behind him and see their younger selves following after them and matching their pacing...?!]
Yes. [Sayo nods, not bothering to look behind him. Where as Nameless is driven to obey, the younger Sayo is when he was in deep shock from being used for revenge.] He's my younger self.
[Maybe, maybe not. But Sayo's not interested in finding the truth, just getting out of here.]
It's pointless to talk to him... and him. [Nameless being the other "him".]
Yeah, I couldn't either. [...] Even when it was happening.
[It was a really surreal experience, is what he means. Watching Taroutachi slowly approach while laughing loudly had been an experience he'd have rather not gone through and one he probably won't be able to forget.]
[The prize money would be almost good enough to make up for their troubles. Guess Sayo would have to treat himself with fruits later and feel better about it.]
Right. [An awkward pause, because how to talk and socialise?] Be careful when you return home, sir.
[If there's ViViD insanity, who knows what's next? More technology craziness?]
[ Oh boy now Naruto's ghost is saying that too, this sure is fun isn't it!? But, hm, there seems to be another branch and this time let's go right! He can feel that the exit's getting closer now!
[Sayo didn't bother refuting or telling his younger self to be quiet. Because it's, well, the truth. And he doesn't really care if people know about his story, just that no one asks him to tell them.
[ When Sayo explains the situation, Mitsutada's expression changes - first surprise, then settling down to uncertainty then some form of wince mixed with empathy that set him rather on edge.
Younger Sayo's face said a lot more than that of Nameless. A lot of things that were no doubt terrible. ]
... they don't say much other than accusations, do they?
[ Singular eye flitting from Sayo to the two apparitions. He steps forward ever so slightly, as if to shield the tantou with his own presence. ]
[She's disappointed to not hear anything from him about why he chose the truth, but she also was expecting it, in a manner. She shakes her head.]
No, unfortunately. I believe that whatever truth is waiting for us, it will be waiting at the end of the maze. However, traversing it is not simple. You've already noticed the traps, I see, but there are also strange creatures wandering around as well. They are most likely hostile.
[They didn't feel like demons or anything else she's ever encountered either. Then again, this was supposed to be virtual reality, so who knew how things were supposed to feel here? Miyako's just frustrated over her lack of options.]
[Honestly, Sayo doesn't think of explaining his choice unless it's a) asked of him or b) doing a status report. Since Miyako isn't his master, she lucked out unless she directly ask him.]
Do you know what kind of creatures they are, or what they look like?
[If they're hostile, he can fight. But if it's better to run, he'd like to know what to expect.]
They are...grotesque. Large, with twisting limbs and features that resembles the tentacles found on sea life, yet they remain bipedal. I do not believe them to be demons, yet they possess a demonic appearance. I do not know what exactly they are, but they are wearing hospital gowns.
[Not human, in other words. And with the mention of hospital gowns, Miyako gives her own a discreet adjustment to ensure that no unfortunate mishaps will be happening with the gown.]
[Those sound like nothing like the enemies he fought before. The enemies and the strange Kebiishi, at least, looks more dark than grotesque.]
They're most likely made because we're in a hospital. [Generated, actually.] We don't know how they fight or if they can die. I think we should avoid them and reach the end.
[Ugh. He really wants to vent out his frustration at this entire scenario, but Sayo isn't angry enough to lose his rational thinking.]
[It's why Sayo just gave up on talking to his younger self. If he can't get any information from him, he'll go somewhere else. Preferably somewhere else other than here.
He glance around Mitsutada's body to see Nameless, before he gives an affirmative sound.]
Let's run.
[Run, retreat, anything. They can find the exit along the way.]
