[William nodded. He honestly preferred running to fighting in this situation, since the one or two fights he had attempted were... unpleasant.]
Alright then.
[He muttered the incantation calling on spirits of flame. It felt different here to use the magic though, like he was drawing on something other than beings of nature.
He threw a fireball experimentally off to the left side. Rather further left of the creature, though it definitely noticed and twitched in that direction. William tried again, this time a little further away and it began to skitter a bit more quickly.]
Now would be a good time to do that running thing I believe.
[To say that that question doesn't cause his chest to lurch would be a lie. Naoki's eyes have gone a little wide and he looks at Sayo before turning his face.] Well...
[He tries, to keep his tone purposefully light, as though he's not thinking about everything that came of what he become. The people who died. His failure to save them.] Sometimes, I guess I do. But I can't change that it did.
[He watches Naoki and hear his response. The answer that he sometimes wished otherwise, but it still happened in the past.
Sayo had similiar thoughts about it before, whenever he's not continuously haunted.]
...Yes, you can't change the past. [It's the unspoken rule in the army. Preserve history, never change it.] I... don't have any other questions, Naoki-san.
[With a nod, Sayo quickly moves ahead. He did look back to see if William's coming behind him.
The centipede is skittering in the ceiling, seemingly confused when there's nothing else coming towards it. It looks down and see its two potential prey escaping.]
[Sayo's sword is out, watching out for any traps and running. Sometimes he skip a step via jumping over it. The centipede was briefly distracted, hissing (can centipedes even hiss like that?) and trying to lash out to them.]
[It was really hard dodging the centipede's long body and for once William wished that he'd actually tried to improve his athletic ability.
Before he could curse his fate too much though, the thing managed to strike William. Or rather, brush against him, because suddenly, everything around them went... grainy. That was the only way William could describe it.]
[Naoki finds his smile again after a moment, his shoulders rising and falling in another careless gesture. If he could shrug off the feelings about his past...
Ahh, dark thoughts. Back to the present, Naoki, he tells himself.]
[How troublesome though. He had been avoiding the blasted game until now, but well, they probably could have made it through. And had glorious, glorious money.]
There is probably nothing for it but to just go home.
[But he feels a strong urge to hug that dead looking guy...!]
He actually laughed like that?
[Sayo's stuck on that point. Because, well... the hugging is something he's dealing with right now. And he can kind of leave it if Taroutachi's just chuckling. But full on laughter? THAT'S surprising. He's trying to imagine it...]
I can't see it.
[The oodachi was always so... detached and stoic?! He's not as close to him compared to his bond with similiarly stoic Kousetsu.]
[Sayo looks ahead, until he sees another dead body. But it's really another person walking. His eyes widen a little when he feels himself moving forward and he starts to walk towards them.]
Sayo saw how Souza's smile faltered for a moment. Being of no use... He doesn't like hearing that, but he knows they're better with the saniwa. They get used and treated better by Haru. But... Souza doesn't seem to feel better about that.]
Yes, because... if he hurts you and Kousetsu-niisan... [It's obvious what Sayo is thinking off. Unlike his normal approach on seeking revenge on everything, his brothers' sake gives this a more personal touch for him.]
